Early 20th Century Chinese Export Glass Paintings In Original Frames
No photos or videos can do these paintings justice, only standing in front of them you can experience their depth and beauty.
These beautiful mountain village glass paintings were a Chinese export in the early 20th century so you can only imagine the journey they have been on.
Their original frames are art work themselves, wood nailed backs lasting the test of time and on one there is still the Chinese Newspaper stuck onto the back. Incredible!
The antique gold frame has been worn down through the years to create this beautiful muted gold look , which glimmers slightly through the aged brown tones.
You can tell these have been lovingly cared for as the glass is in perfect condition.
I love the muted blues which blend seamlessly into the deep browns and not forgetting the accents on the buildings and boats are beautifully crafted with mother of pearl. These glimmer and give the whole piece so much depth. Glass painting is most definitely my new favourite now.
It is absolutely incredible to own a hand painted piece of this age and I hope their new home they are looked after as well as they have been for over 100 years.
